Structural
Constellations is the title Josef Albers gave
to a series of graphic works he began around
1950, about the same time as he initiated the
sequence of paintings Homage
to the Square for
which he is best known. Both series occupied
Albers until the end of his life.
Albers’ drawings
formed the monographic topic of my doctoral
thesis in which I elaborated a set of historical
and theoretical approaches to Structural
Constellations.
